To become the respected, influential, impactful and successful leader that you know you are capable of being, you will need to master four dimensions of leadership.
First, you have to expand your leadership style so that you can influence and motivate people who don't think exactly like you.
Second, you have to get good at planning, decision-making and direction setting.
Third, you must be able to pull a team together and creative a conducive environment with excellent communication and engagement.
Lastly, you have to actually execute your plans and make sure that your organization meets or exceeds expectations.
Let's look at these one at a time, starting with the leadership styles dimensions.
Adapt Your Leadership Style to Influence, Align and Inspire
Great leaders are not limited to one narrow leadership style—they adjust their approach based on the situation, the people they’re leading, and the outcomes they need to achieve. Without flexibility in leadership styles, leaders struggle to influence diverse teams, gain buy-in from stakeholders, and create alignment in rapidly changing environments.
Leadership style versatility reflects your ability to recognize different follower mindsets, adapt your leadership approach accordingly, and apply the right level of direction or empowerment. Instead of relying on a default style, great leaders master a range of leadership approaches to maximize engagement, accountability, and performance.
As a senior manager or executive, you lead people with different motivations, skill levels, and expectations. Using the wrong leadership style can cause disengagement, slow execution, or create resistance. But when you develop leadership versatility, you increase your ability to inspire action, align teams, and create momentum—regardless of the challenge.
Without mastering leadership styles, your leadership tends to be perceived by your followers as rigid, frustrating, and ineffective. But when you adapt your style strategically, you build trust, drive performance, and multiply your influence.
If you want to be a respected, impactful leader who consistently brings out the best in others, mastering leadership styles is the key to unlocking your full leadership potential.

Most leaders don’t fail primarily because of bad execution—most fail because they lack a clear plan. Without strong planning, teams work on low-impact tasks, projects stall, and the organization drifts in different directions. Leaders spend too much time reacting to fires instead of driving strategic outcomes.
The planning capacity is the ability to analyze complex situations, anticipate challenges, and set clear priorities. Instead of operating on gut instinct, great leaders identify key trends, gather insights from multiple sources, and create structured decision-making frameworks that keep teams aligned and focused.
In your role as an organizational leader, you can’t afford guesswork—strong planning ensures that resources, talent, and priorities are strategically aligned to drive results. It also enables organizational steering, allowing you to adjust course quickly when market conditions shift without losing momentum.
Without a strong planning system, leadership feels overwhelming—everything is urgent, and nothing moves forward with purpose. But with a clear planning framework, you create alignment, increase efficiency, and ensure that every decision contributes to long-term success. If you want to lead with confidence, eliminate confusion, and future-proof your organization, mastering planning is the first step.

A great strategy means nothing if people don’t work well together to execute it. Many leaders struggle with misalignment, poor communication, and disengaged employees—resulting in inefficiencies, conflict, and lackluster performance. Without strong teaming skills, even the most talented individuals fail to collaborate effectively, leading to inconsistent execution and frustration.Teaming is about building trust, fostering collaboration, and creating a strong team culture where people feel valued and motivated.
High-performance teams don’t just happen—they are intentionally built through clear expectations, structured communication, and leadership that nurtures engagement.
As a senior manager or executive, you might see gaps in cross-functional collaboration, employee alignment, or accountability. But with strong teaming frameworks, you can reduce friction, build a culture of ownership, and create alignment where employees take initiative and drive results.
Without mastering this team dimension of leadership, organizational life can feel like a constant battle—conflicts fester, execution slows, and talent retention suffers. But when you intentionally foster teamwork, your organization thrives. People communicate openly, trust each other, and execute with precision. If you want to transform workplace dynamics, boost engagement, and scale leadership effectiveness, mastering teaming is the key to unlocking peak performance.

It requires clear expectations, structured workflows, and a high-performance culture where people take ownership of results. Strong execution eliminates wasted effort, drives consistency, and ensures teams deliver measurable impact—every time.

We invented practice-based leadership development 25 years ago and have been perfecting it this whole time. By breaking leadership down into its three dimensions (abilities) and core practices (skill sets), and further into discrete skills and specific techniques for each skill, and then benchmarking your current level of proficiency, we can pin point your highest leverage areas that will rapidly elevate your leadership performance. We then leverage "micro learning" (short, bite sized lessons that only take a few minutes) combined with "deliberate practice," expert ongoing feedback and guidance, and mentor / coach / peer support. This proprietary combination delivers twice the results in half the time, with a fraction of the effort it would normally take to learn these skills. The five components of our Accelerating Leadership methodology are summarized below.
Start with a skill assessment then meet with Brett to create a personalized development plan to ensure focusing on the most impactful practices (applying the Pareto Principle to maximize impact).
Each week you watch a video, read a handout, and complete a worksheet. It only takes one hour per week of self-paced assignments that can easily be woven into your existing schedule.
Apply techniques directly within your regular routine of meetings, projects and team interactions. It only takes about 30 minutes per week and integrates seamlessly into your existing routine.
Join small-group coaching calls or optional one-on-one coaching sessions. Get expert insights, personalized feedback and guidance, and and learn from peers who are applying the techniques.
Supplement your self-paced learning with live workshops led by Brett or other instructors. Dive deeper into critical leadership topics and reinforce what you are learning.
